What exactly is the meaning of "The Harlem Shake" meme dance that is sweeping You Tube right now? The REAL Harlem Shake is a dance from 1981, although it was also popular in rap videos in the early 2000s. It supposed to look like this

More recently, a music producer named Baauer released an eletronica track called "The Harlem Shake" In August 2012. In Early February, YouTuber Filthy Frank uploaded what might be the first version of what would become the dance meme, at the beginning of one of his compilations.
